The Boxing Day freeze: Met Office warns of snow and ice on December 26 with temperatures plummeting after a balmy 13C Christmas Day
Britain is bracing for another Arctic blast of snow, ice and bitter winds as temperatures plummet on Boxing Day.
After a balmy 13C Christmas, the UK will battle below-average temperatures and numerous wintry blasts from December 26 and into the new year.

Divorce rates in UK are set to hit a 50-year high and unhappiness among Brits will reach the highest levels since records began next year
The news comes as British workers will earn less than the French, who work fewer hours on average, as real wages across the Channel are set to overtake ours.
Skyrocketing inflation that has lowered living standards is one of the main causes behind unhappiness climbing to an all-time high among Brits.
The predictions from PwC suggest real wages in Britain will fall back to levels last seen in 2006 next year and a weekly shop will cost £100 for the first time, The Telegraph reported
The rise in divorces is predicted to occur due to the Government making it easier for married couples to formally separate.
The Big Four consultancy firm also forecasts the second biggest fall in house prices in 70 years.
The introduction of so-called ‘no-fault’ divorces in April is expected to see an increase of 140,000 separations in England and Wales next year – the biggest jump since 1971.
PwC also warned that the average Briton would be ‘the unhappiest they’ve been since records began a decade ago’.

West Yorkshire police is accused of racism after court found the force had defamed black Royal Marine in email
The ruling by a High Court judge represents the first time a police force has committed the highest level of defamation, known as a Chase One libel.
West Yorkshire Police is now liable for costs and damages, The Times reports.
The email, sent to a Royal Navy commander, saw police accuse the marine of ‘threats and blatant lies’ while adding his conduct was ‘below the standard expected of a member of the armed forces’.
The email was sent before the allegations had even been put to the marine by the force.
Yair Cohen, of Cohen Davis Solicitors, who advocated for the marine, said: ‘There is a presumption that the police should be believed and this represented a breach of that trust.
‘They simply made up their minds that this man was guilty and tried to ruin his life, saying he was not fit to be a soldier or member of the armed forces.’
Mr Justice Johnson found the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police had libelled the man, whose name cannot be revealed for legal reasons
